As our commercial, industrial and residential buildings continue to build upwards and adopt complex architectural designs, the demand for more sophisticated and safer work-at-heights equipment has increased as well.
On 22 December 2017, the Singapore Building and Construction Authority released a Façade Access Design Guide to help designers understand the impact of their designs on downstream maintenance, and consider access to building envelopes upstream.
This would allow for safe and efficient inspection, cleaning, and repair and replacement throughout a building’s lifetime.
The guide also provides a benchmark for access-related future improvement works in existing buildings.
The Façade Access Design Guide is available here.
