Learning Objectives

  • Selecting an appropriate mobile elevating work platform (MEWP)

  • State the safety requirements under the Workplace Safety and Health Act, Singapore Standards for the Safe Use of MEWPs (SS 616) and the Code of Practice for Working Safely at Height related to scissor lift

  • Carry out pre-start inspection

  • Conduct workplace hazard assessment

  • Operate scissor lift safely

  • Be aware of the relevant Health and Safety regulations

  • Be aware of accident prevention and control

  • Be aware of the needs regarding personnel protection

  • Be aware of the need to refer to the machine Operating Manual

Duration:

  • 08:30am to 18:30pm (incl theory and practical)

Languages:

  • English

Assumed Skills and Knowledge

  • Basic knowledge of the relevant sector of work

  • Ability to listen, speak, read and write the relevant language at proficiency level equivalent to Employability Skills System (ESS) Level 3 and above

  • Ability to manipulate numbers at Employability Skills System (ESS) Level 3 and above

  • Be medically fit to work at height
